What is the eligibility criteria discount for the graduation percentage for SC/ST category?

Hello, my name is Shubam Kumar and I belong to the SC category. I was wondering that with change in the laws as far as quota is concerned for SC/ST, is there still some discount for them while applying for CAT? What percentage is required by people falling in this category?

Re: What is the eligibility criteria discount for the graduation percentage for SC/ST category?

Hello Shubam. Like many other entrance exams, there is the clause for less percentage required by people who apply under the quota of SC/ST/OBC in CAT also. Well, as of now the graduation percentage required by people falling in the category of SCT/ST is 45%. If you belong to this category and have got your certificate as a proof then you need 45% to be eligible for applying for CAT exam.

This discount is also applicable for the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category people. So if you have at least 45% scored in your graduation or bachelor’s degree then you can certainly apply for CAT. So, you can start preparing for CAT exam straight away. All the best and do well!

    CAT - Common Admission Test

CAT is one of the entrance exam for joining in MBA.

For writing this exam the candidates need to have satisfied the eligibility criteria's:

    Eligibility for CAT exam:

    • The candidates must have done their UG degree of 3 years duration with 50% aggregate or equivalent CGPA point.
    • For SC/ST candidates it is 45% or equivalent CGPA points.
    • If candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of notes/CGPA percentage of marks will be based on the procedure which is certified by the university/institution from which they got graduation.
    • As far regarding the age limits, there is no special age restriction for this exam.

    All the best.

Re: What is the eligibility criteria discount for the graduation percentage for SC/ST category?

    Dear Mr Shubham Kumar,

There is no problem at all you can apply for CAT and do it fast to get the choice date for CAT Test.
I will explain you how they are calculating this percentage for graduation.. Already CAT applications are
being sold and online registrations are started. So hurry up complete the basic stage for appearing CAT exam.
Then start with your hard work of preparation for the exam.

As per rules there is no minimum percentage required in Graduation for appearing in CAT exam. Only you need a simple PASS in graduation that's all.

Further, it may affect only general candidates and non-creamy layer candidates, in the short listings by some Top ranked B-Schools as part of their
    filtration.

Since you are well coming under reservation category and for even top B-Schools you are coming in their given bracket i.e. 50% graduation for General candidates
and only 45% for SC/ST candidates of non-creamy layer.
Here Non-Creamy layer means, your's or your parents' annual income should not cross more than 2.5 lacs per annum this is applicable for All India level like IIMs/IITs etc,
if you looking for the B-School of state level then for Andhra Pradesh slab for Non-Creamy Layer candidates is increased to 4.5 lacs per annum. It means any income above
those ranges will be called Creamy Layer Candidate and no reservation criteria would be applicable to them though they belong to any category.

So all well, now start with your studies religiously... best of luck.

    Hello,
Yes its true that several changes has been made by Indian govt. for Backward classes (SC/ST students) and other backward classes (OBC) in education sector. As far as the CAT is concerned, a candidate must hold a bachelor's degree with at least 50% of marks or equivalent CGPA. While in the case of SC/ST students, the percentage is more less and they require only 45% in graduation to sit for CAT.

But yes you need to have SC certificate as a proof.

    Thank you

The general eligibility conditions for all major entance exams like CAT,XAT,SNAP etc. is 50% in graduation. However in accordance with the guidelines of the government a further relaxation of 5% is given to all candidates belonging to SC/ST community.
So,accordingly 45% in graduation would be required for candidates applying under such category.

Re: What is the eligibility criteria discount for the graduation percentage for SC/ST category?

Like several different entrance exams, there's the clause for fewer proportion needed by those who apply underneath the quota of SC/ST/OBC in CAT conjointly. Well, as of currently the graduation proportion needed by individuals falling within the class of SCT/ST is forty fifth. If you belong to the present class and have gotten your certificate as a symptom then you wish forty fifth to be eligible for applying for CAT communicating.

This discount is additionally applicable for the opposite Backward categories (OBC) class individuals. thus if you have got a minimum of forty fifth scored in your graduation or degree then you'll actually apply for CAT. So, you'll begin making ready for CAT communicating immediately. All the most effective and do well!

There is no drawback the least bit you'll apply for CAT and screw quick to urge the selection date for CAT take a look at.
i will be able to justify you ways they're calculative this proportion for graduation.. Already CAT applications area unit
being sold and on-line registrations area unit started. thus hurry up complete the fundamental stage for showing CAT communicating.
Then begin along with your diligence of preparation for the communicating.

As per rules there's no minimum proportion needed in Graduation for showing in CAT communicating. solely you wish an easy PASS in graduation that is all.

Since you're well returning underneath reservation class and for even high B-Schools you're returning in their given bracket i.e. five hundredth graduation for General candidates
and solely forty fifth for SC/ST candidates of non-creamy layer.
Here Non-Creamy layer suggests that, your's or your parents' annual financial gain shouldn't cross quite a pair of.5 lacs each year this can be applicable for All Republic of India level like IIMs/IITs etc,
if you craving for the B-School of state level then for province block for Non-Creamy Layer candidates is increased to four.5 lacs each year. It suggests that any financial gain on top of
those ranges are going to be referred to as Creamy Layer Candidate and no reservation criteria would be applicable to them tho' they belong to any class.

Yes its true that many changes has been created by Indian govt. for Backward categories (SC/ST students) and different backward categories (OBC) in education sector. As so much because the CAT cares, a candidate should hold a degree with a minimum of five hundredth of marks or equivalent CGPA. whereas within the case of SC/ST students, the proportion is a lot of less and that they need solely forty fifth in graduation to sit down for CAT.
Any one United Nations agency have a degree Minimum of three years with five hundredth marks from a recognized university or faculty is eligible to look for CAT communicating.
Final year showing graduation candidates are eligible to look within the CAT examination.

And currently talking concerning your question-
affirmative there's relaxation or in your language Discount for SC/ST and OBC candidates in proportion to look in master's degree exams.
For SC/ST and OBC solely forty fifth marks area unit enough to look for CAT examination.
