    Hello friend .......

It is very good that you have decided what you want to do in the future. This way you can prepare well for the exams and excel in that field to greater heights.

Now for doing the MBA from the top B-Schools you need to perform well in the various MBA entrance exams like GMAT , CAT , MAT , XAT , ATMA , FMA , SNAP etc. Based on the combined performance of the written test , group discussion and personal interview you can get the admission in the top B-Schools for doing the MBA degree.

Now the eligibility for the various MBA entrance exams is that you must have a graduate degree from any discipline with minimum 50% of the marks but from a recognized university/college. You are also eligible to apply when you are in the final year of your engineering course.

The basic pattern for most of the MBA entrance exams is that the questions are generally asked from the sections Quantitative aptitude , Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability and Analytical reasoning , Comprehensions , Grammar etc.
So if you want to crack any of the above MBA entrance exams then you need have very much clear concept about these sections.

Now as you are in the 2nd year of your engineering degree so starting earlier will give you more time to acquire the skills and practice needed for the entrance exams.
Firstly , you need to develop the leadership skills and correct your conversation skills while in your engineering degree. This would greatly help you in your group discussion and interview .
Side by side you should make a habit of reading the English newspapers and learn 20 new words along with their meaning and even try to use those new words in your day-to-day life which would help you in increasing you vocabulary skills which is very much required for cracking the CAT entrance exam for getting into the IIMs and other good colleges.
Also you should practice the Quantitative aptitude regularly for developing the required skills of solving those problems because in this case "practice makes a man perfect"
And do regular practice with the previous years papers and other sample papers which would help in boosting the confidence level in you.

Here I am referring you some of the books required for the preparation you can purchase then from any of the book store.

Hope this would satisfy your queries.

Best of luck for your future.

    Regards
    ~PRAVIR~

Second and third year are very crucial for your Btech degree, you should devote all your attention at this time to your engg studies, as graduation performance is also taken into consideration during MBA admissions. Also you will have plenty of time for MBA preparation your 4th year & onwards.
But still your are very desirous , then you should keep improving your communication skills , because this is where most engg students lack.

    Hi!!

It is very nice that you are starting your preparation at earliest.

    See, Friend,
what you need to take care is about your basics of English and Maths..

There are mainly two areas that you need to take care . ..
    English and Maths

    For English,

    - Read Newspaper editorials and magazines daily
    - Read Vocabulary book " Word power made easy " to increase your vocab.

    For Maths,
-Solve all the chapters of R.s.Agrawal . This will clear your basics.

After, doing this much will clear your all basics and provide platform to touch higher level questions.

If you are willing to enroll for any coaching classes then you may go for
    1. T.I.M.E
    2. Endevour etc.

otherwise, you can , at your own solve Arun sharma books for further reference . .
    Arun sharma for Quant
    Arun sharma for DI
    Arun sharma for Verbal

    Any doubt ??? Ask
    Regards,

Re: Steps to be taken to prepare for MBA while in B.Tech 2nd year?

    Hello,

Well,I appreciate you. This is one good decision. In MBA you can find number of entrance exams.First decide your self which exam that you want to appear.Majorly in India,CAT and MAT entrance exams are famous.Almost all the top institutes are accepting this entrance test score. As you are a B.Tech second year student first you have to concentrate on Logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude,General awareness and English skills.try to do More practice.Your practice only helps you to get more percentile in the entrance exam.First design your schedule daily for practicing reasoning, Quantitative aptitude,English skills.Try to get all the updates every day for general awareness section. It is most important.MBA entrance exams are Negative marks exams so you have to be careful while answering the questions. To improve general awareness sections try to go through daily news papers and News channels. If possible you can go for coaching in the third year or in the final year.It will help you to get better percentile in the entrance exams.

    >>CAT is a common entrance test to be conducted by IIMs to get admissions in to their management programs. This is a online test.

    >>MAT is a management aptitude test conducted by AIMA-New Delhi, to get admissions in to business schools in India. This entrance test is conducted four times in a Year.i.e.February,May ,September, December etc..

    Hi,
It is very good stage for you to get admission into MBA in best colleges. I would like to appreciate you for starting preparation at the right stage. If try CAT or MAT you will get admission into best colleges of India. So it is right time and if possible try to take any coaching. If it is not possible then go for own preparation. Mainly three components you have to concentrate at 1st those are Quantitative aptitude, Reasoning, and English. There are so many books are available if you go through the practice papers you can reduce the time for solving the question. So more you practice more you reduce the time taking. So that your attempts will be more and you can easily achieve a best college. All the best
