to be eligible for the Indian institute of management Ahmadabad you should be one of the best student among the people who are attempting the cat examination with your because its the best mba college in the country and almost all the students will be trying for an admission in this college ,start as the earliest as possible that should e the first thing you should take then you should purchase the books of the tata macgrahill publishers for the cat examination authored by arun kumar ,it has three parts ,namely the quantitative ,verbal reasoning and logical reasoning and data interpretation purchase all of these three parts they would cost around 1200 rupees ,and start giving them at least two hours regularly ,
if you feel that you are not able to prepare on self then the best thing would be to join the coaching institute and the tines institute is the best for cat coaching ,they would provide you with the best and most relevant materials and also the most proper guidance for the examination ,to even get an call from the Indian institute of management Ahmadabad you have to get an rank of at least less than 100 in the cat that means your percentile should be not less than 99.99
also you should practice a lot for the group discussions and the personal interview rounds it always better to attend the mock interviews and group discussions that would really help you lot during the real thing

    Hello Friend .......

In the CAT entrance exams the questions are generally asked from the section of Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning , Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation. So if you want to do well in the written section of the CAT exam then you have to prepare will in the above sections.

In order to prepare for the Verbal Ability you have to have a good vocabulary with good word power and also have a good comprehension skills. In order to develop all these you should read the English newspapers daily and learn 20 new words also with their meaning , antonyms and synonyms.
And for the Logical Reasoning , Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation you have to practice a lot and for the Quantitative Ability you have to through with all the formulas needed.

Here I am suggestion you some of the book for the CAT preparation which you can follow :

You can purchase these book from any of the book store from your nearby book shop or even you can order them online.

Apart from you have to even prepare for the group discussion and personal interview after you get selected in the written exam . Now to do well in the group discussion and personal interview you have to have good conversation skills and good knowledge of English and the usage of Grammar. For this you can join in a good institute which prepares for the group discussion and personal interview.

    Preparations for Common Aptitude test:-

~If you are thinking to get a seat in IIM's then you have to go for full hard work with dedication.

~You should know about the pattern of the Exam i.e it is having Quant, Verbal Reasoning , Logical Reasoning and Data interpretation .

~For all these topics either you can go for R S Agarwal or you can opt for coaching .

~From my Side its very best thing will be there if you go for coaching because you will be guide according to the Topic and you will find time to go for coaching.

~Because most of the time what happens People those who want to go for self study can't find a proper time or schedule to prepare for it.

~Coaching will be great for you and for your future purpose.

    Good Luck.

Re: How to start preparation for CAT?

It is not easy to tie a bell to the CAT; Common Admission Test. It takes one’s determination and hard work to be successful enough to get a good business school call. It is not done yet, by merely getting a call; you need to rock in the group discussion conducted by most B-schoolsbefore they decide to admit you. So how can one prepare for CAT?
[h=3]CAT Preparation[/h]Here are some suggestions for the preparation towards India’s most competitive exam, the CAT:
    • Understand
If you are passionate about doing MBA, then you are halfway in the process. You might have come across the quote, “When work, commitment, and pleasure all become one and you reach that deep well, where passion lives; nothing is impossible.” Yes, it takes a lot of passion and belief for one to reach, where they wanted to be; again, if you are passionate on what you want to do and ready to put the effort, then that’s a great start.
    • Plan
Planning is very essential for the preparation of CAT. You must start with collecting information about the CAT preparation material; if required, do enquire about the CAT coaching institutions. There are plenty of good coaching institutions; you can choose one, by the quality of coaching they provide. Some say collecting all the required material in the beginning will be useful; that might be helpful, but you may not have all the time in the world to do that. No one knew what to be expected on the examination paper, so it is better to get started. The more you delay, the more you stress yourself; form a good strategy that works for you, such as spending couple of hours a day and may be spending more time during the weekends. A systematic approach will help you with gauging, where you stand towards your goal. The CAT exam usually tests your abilities in the following areas:
    1. Quantitative Aptitude
    2. Reading Comprehension & Verbal Ability
    3. Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency
Note: But, always be sure to verify what areas, you can expect to be tested!
    • Execute
This step is very crucial. From your planning process, you must have decided, when you are deciding to take the exam. Once decided, you start working towards that goal. You should slowly increase the pace of your preparation; being consistent in your preparation is quite crucial. You should start discovering the areas, where you are strong and where there is a room for improvement. You must make your stronger area into the strongest and work towards improving the weaker sections. Always keep yourself motivated; do not stress yourself, by studying all the time. Over dosage often, as they say, kills. Hence, it is better to prepare at the pace, which would be working best for you. And no one better than you can calibrate the amount of effort, you can expel towards the preparation. Keep check-points in your schedule to see the trend in your performance, if the trend is pointing towards growth or positive direction, and that’s what you wanted.
A suggestion would be that you start with understanding the concepts of the areas to be tested, followed by speeding up the process; through such processes, you can quickly get to results! Do not let go your passion at any cause; always keep your spirit high. And last but not least; keep up the hard work, until your exams are on the verge!
