Re: Is it good to do BCA distance from SMU before pursing MCA/MBA?

    Dear student,

You ca go for Distance BCA but i will suggest you to for regular BCA then prepare for MBA or MCA and get into a good college and that is also in regular otherwise if you have made your mind that you want to pursue your BCA from distance (Sikkim manipal university) tehn there is no problem but still the curriculum is different from regular. In regular course the pressure is more and you will learn more things, the curriculum is according to what the industry is needed. So, i will suggest you to go for regular BCA and then go for regular MBA but before going you have to be eligible to apply:

1)You have to complete your Graduation from a recognized university in any discipline with 50% marks.
2)Final year Graduation students can also apply
    3)No back loggs
    4)No upper limit age bar
5)Minimum age required to apply is 21 years.

After that you have to qualify in one of these following entrance exams to get into a good MBA college:
    1)CAT
    2)MAT
    3)XAT
    4)SNAP
    5)IBSAT
    6)IIFT
    7)FMS
    8)CET

Best of luck for your future..............

    Yes !!!
you can go for BCA distance from SMU

SMU or Sikkim Manipal University is a recognized university and under the affiliation of AICTE

So this distance degree will be considered as a recognized education degree when you will appear for the MBA entrance exams

    Official Website of SMU :
    http://smude.edu.in/

Basic Criteria Required for MBA Exams :

    >You need to have passed graduation from a recognized university

    >you need to have 50% marks in your graduation (45% for SC/ST)

    >No pending backlogs in graduation course

    >you can do the graduation course in any recognized discipline

Hence on fulfillment of these criteria you will be eligible for appearing exams like
    • CAT
    • GMAT
    • CMAT
    • IIFT
    • MAT

In Case of MCA also, your distance BCA degree will be considered !
and you can appear in the MCA entrance Exams

but in case of doing jobs, these distance BCA degree will not work much....
it will be a big trouble for you if you opt for jobs after distance BCA

So if you plan to go for BCA distance degree , be ready to do the Master degree in future....be it MCA or MBA for better career prospects
