    Hi,
Its a good decision that you have taken. NET's full form is National Eligibility Test. This is held twice a year. For now there will be an exam on the 17th of june 2012. But for this application deadline is over. I would ask you to appear for the next one. You have 3 papers in NET examination. For each paper there is certain cut-off.If you clear this cut-off then you will be eligible for either lectureship or JRF(Junior Research Fellow) or a combination of both, according to the option selected by you in the form. But let me give you an information.
Just clearing the NET won't give you a direct admission for PhD. You have to apply for the institute you want to go to, and sit for their respective interview. The amount of stipend that is given for a NET scorer is 14K per month.
