The eligibility criteria for the UGC JRF NET exam is 55% of marks in Master degree with a UGC and Specially AIU recognized university. The age criteria for the JRF exam is 28 years maximum, but there is no any age criteria for the NET exam. If you will pass the JRF i.e. Junior Research Fellowship exam then you can go for the PhD as well as Lecturer post in any university in India. But if you will pass the NET examination then you can go only for the Lecturer post in any university no for PhD.

If you will cross the age limit for the JRF exam i.e. 28 years then you can go for the NET exam. In that case you can go only for the Lecturer post in any university, but you can go for the PhD from the distance learning course. For more details click on www.ugcnetonline.in. Best of luck.
