    Eligibility for IES exam after scoring 99% in 12th class, graduation and would complete my MBA next year?

    I am a B.com student,studied Economics in Plus two,scored 99%(school topper),but have taken up MBA,and will be completing it in next year.Am I eligible for IES exam?Kindly let me know.

    You are not eligible for IES exam but you are eligible for IAS examination. Indian Engineering Services i.e. IES exam is conducted by UPSC i.e. Union Public Service Commission, but only Enigneering Students can take part in this exam. But You can take Part in IAS exam
    i.e. Indian Administrative Services.

    The eligibility criteria for IES examination is 4 years Engineering Graduation from a recognized university. So, if you are B.Com Student and not the Science student then you are not eligible for this exam. But you can apply for IAS/IPS examination.

    The eligibility criteria for IAS examination is Graduation with any stream from a recognized university. There is no any restriction of Marks in this examination. The age Criteria for this examination is 21 to 30 years. You can only take part in this exam 4 times if you are belong to General Cast. For OBC student, it is 7 times and for SC/ST candidate there is no limit.

    There are three examination in IAS, Prelim, Mains, Interview. In Prelim exam you have to answer the questions of General Knowledge, General maths, General Science etc. In Mains exam you have to select three subjects. One is Language Subject and two main subject like Economics, Histroy etc. You can take any stream subject in your Mains exam like Science, Arts, Commerce etc.

    You can fill online form at www.upsc.gov.in if you are eligible for IAS or IPS examination.

    Eligibility for UPSC Indian Economic Service Examination

    You must posses a post graduate degree in Economics/ Business Economics/ Applied Economics/ Econometrics from a recognized university

    Your age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age will be provided to reserved category candidates as 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PWD and 5 years for Ex-Servicemen category candidates

    If you have completed your bachelor's degree as B.Com then there is no problem but your MBA should be completed in Economics as Specialization subject then only you will be considered eligible to apply for Indian Economic Service Examination conducted by UPSC Board

    All above mentioned papers will be conducted in examination in conventional type pattern, qualifying in each paper is mandatory to be eligible for personality test and if you qualify then you will be called for interview process but you will have to score good marks in examination then your selection will be finalized and perform well in interview also then you may get this job but not easy because it demands hardcore study with no limits so I would like to suggest you to be dedicated to your career and provide at least 15 hours everyday for study and take a good coaching for betterment of the final result and also concentrate more on various books and MBA syllabus for Economics Subject and clear examination and you may go to anyone of the following coaching institutes to prepare well for examination

    The minimum educational qualification required is master's degree in economics ,business economics or applied economics or econometrics from a recognized university.Final year post graduation candidates can also apply for the exam.

    So you can apply for the exam during your final year of master's degree in business administration.

    The age limit for the exam is 21-30 years on the first January of year of examination.Relaxations in upper age applicable to obc and sc/st respectively.

    IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service examination and this examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a year.

    If you have completed Engineering course then also you are applicable for IES exam OR If you have M.Sc degree in Physics , Radio Physics then you are applicable for IES exam.

    Those candidate have completed engineering degree with below given department are applicable for IES exam-

    1.Civil Engineering

    IES is the Indian Engineering Service exam. This is one of the exams being conducted by UPSC for those who wish to join the Government service. It is a must that the candidate should have completed at least graduation in engineering.


    Eligibility criteria for IES Examination:-



    => Aspirant's should have a engineering degree from a recognized university.

    => Aspirant's age should be in between 21 to 30 years.

    => Aspirant's engineering branch should be from given below or you can apply in these categories only. i.e.

    1. Civil Engineering.
    2. Mechanical Engineering.
    3. Electrical Engineering.
    4. Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.



    Dear aspirant as you are telling that you have completed your bachelor degree in commerce sector so you are not fulfilling the eligibility criteria of this examination, So You can not appear for the IES examination.

    • IES refers to Indian economic services and the examination for which is conducted by UPSC.
    • To be eligibile for it, you have completed the post graduation from a approved university in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/ Econometrics.
    • The age which is stated for this exam is 21 years to 30 years.
    • As per notification the reserved category students are provided upper age relaxations.
    • Having economics subject in class 12th doesn't make you eligibile for this examination.
    • However you may go for civil services examination.

    Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service Exams are conducted by UPSC once each year
    Eligibilty to apply for this Exam is:

    Educational qualifications:
    IES- Post Graduation degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/ Econometrics .
    ISS- Post Graduation degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics.

    Age- Minimum 21 years
    Maximum 30 years
    SC/ST candidates can apply till 35 years
    OBC can apply till 33 years

    So, if you meet the above eligibilty, than you can apply for this exams.
