    Ya, you can do this.

Hard work and correct path is required for cracking IAS exam.

For IAS if it is possible then leave your job and then prepare.

Start coaching class, you will get the idea of cracking the exam.

You can also analize yourself in coaching class that can you do that or not.

If you feel that you can do it by hard working then take leave from job and prepare.

    Eligibility for IAS exam:

    - You should have completed graduation in any stream from any government approved university. Final year student can also fill the form.

    - Age limits:

    1. General: 21-30 years.

    2. Other Backward Class: 21-33 years.

    3. SC and ST: 21-35 years.

Re: Eligibility for IAS Mains after MBA?

To sit in the IAS Mains exams first you have to sit in the IAS Prelims exams and pass it.

Minimum eligibilty to apply for the Prelims exams is Graduation pass
Age should be between 21 and 30 years.
Also there are just 4 attempts allowed to general candidates and 7 for the OBC candidates

If you clear the Prelims exams than in the Mains exams below is the scheme of examinations and papers

Paper I One of the Indian languages to be selected by the candidate from the Languages included in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution.
    Paper II English
    Paper III Essay
Papers IV & V: General Studies
Papers VI VII, VIII & IX; Any two subjects to be selected from the list of the optional subjects

List of optional subjects for Main Examination
    Agriculture
    Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
    Anthropology
    Botany
    Chemistry
    Civil Engineering
    Commerce and Accountancy
    Economics
    Electrical Engineering
    Geography
    Geology
    History
    Law
    Management
    Mathematics
    Mechanical Engineering
    Medical Science
    Philosophy
    Physics
    Political Science and International

So, you would be requiring atleast 6-7 hours of study daily to crack the Mains exams.
There are 9 papers that you have to give in the Mains exams.
Also it depends on your subject knowledge and Grasping power for the things that you have studied.

If you are already doing a very good job, than i would suggest that do not leave the job, just for preparing for the IAS mains exams

Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university

No backlogs should be pending in any previous major exams

there is Age Limit in this exam : 21-30 years (for SC/ST is 21-33 years , for Handicapped it is : 21-35 years )

    Important Points ===>>>>

    You are ELIGIBLE FOR IAS

but it will be based on your graduation degree, your post graduation degree i.e. MBA will not be of any help

if you are willing to sit for IAS , go for CSAT exam directly after passing your graduation ,don;t have to purse MBA en that case

    • For becoming an Indian administrative services i.e IAS officer you must have to appear in the civil services examination organised by the UPSC.
    • This examination has three stages- Preliminary exam, Main exam and then the interview.
    • So to be eligibile for main exam, qualifying in the Preliminary exam is very essential.
    • For preliminary exam, you must have completed the graduation and your's age must be between 21 years to 30 years.
    • Preliminary exam is an objective type whereas main exam is subjective.
    • You may join the coaching institute for better preparation.

Re: Eligibility for IAS Mains after MBA?

The first step is to give the UPSC Civil Services prelims Exams.
Minimum eligibilty to appear in the Prelims exams is Graduation pass in any stream.
No minimum marks is required in Graduation.

Age of the candidates should be between 21 and 30 years
OBC candidates can apply till 33 years
SC/ST candidates can apply till 35 years

Next Prelims exams will be held on 26th May 2013
Forms are being filled right now

Only if you clear the Prelims exams than only you can appear in the Mains Exams.

There is no subject as Mathematics in the Mains exams.
So even if your maths is weak, and you study and do well in other subjects, you can clear the prelims as well as the mains exams

Re: Eligibility for IAS Mains after MBA?

Dear if you are preparing for civil service examination then it is good for you but dear i would like to inform you that preparation may not done well with the job because you are asking for the IAS examination which demands more than 12 hours everyday for guaranteed selection so that you may not give this time during your job but i am not forcing you to release from your job and start preparation for IAS examination because this will not be good and you are earning and managing your all expenses that is why you need to keep your preparation and job continue and if you think about IAS mains examination then you should not select mathematics as optional subject, you should choose that subject from which you have completed your MBA and choose your favorite subject for mains examination and i am sure that you will definitely get qualified in both prelims and mains examination

I have attached full notification for this examination in which you will get all details with every single topic so please download and get all informations about this examination

    All the best
