Dear first of all you should know that Indian Civil Service Examination is considered toughest examination in all over India which is a national level competitive examination and not easy to clear like other exams as bank clerk that is why you should understand everything before starting preparation because most of the candidates starts preparation with boosts and use their all efforts but some of them gets success and other fails and failures comes back and destroy their time so you have to think in deep that you are already in job and if you had been free from jobs and all other tensions then I would have definitely suggested you the way to get prepared for IAS examination but you are in job so it is really not possible that you prepare for examination

Understand that only those candidates gets selected who give about 70% of their time for preparation of this exam and keeps consistency in preparation but if you think that you will buy books and appear for exam then nothing will happen in that case and you will get frustrated with your result and stop preparation that is why if you are interested then leave the job and start preparation and it is not necessary that you appear for only civil service examination there are some other competitive exams that are for central government jobs as SSC CGL so you can go for that also and make your career good that requires less preparation and possible with job

    All the best
